 Acceptable Use Policies / Access Control Policies

  1. Use of IT resources is governed primarily by the Bible (~33,103 verses) and Spirit of Prophecy (~250,000 paragraphs). IT shall make it easier for users to search the Bible and SOP. Secondarily laws of the land (Romans 13) will be followed. In case of conflict the authority with resurrecting power shall be followed.
  2. Intellectual property respected.  Digital creations shall enjoy same privileges as academic authorships, and according to "Authors Stewardship" chapter 23 of Counsels to Writers and Editors by Ellen G. White.
  3. Transactional systems should not cause people to work during the Sabbath (Exodus 20:8-10) except systems intentionally for revival, evangelistic, and temple work (Matthew 12:5), and others allowed by Bible and Spirit of Prophecy (serving food {ST, May 25, 1882 par. 4}).
  4. No work shall be done using illegitimate software. "Thou shalt not steal" Exodus 20:15. "For I the LORD love judgment, I hate robbery for burnt offering" Isaiah 61:8.
  5. Entertainment, movies, games shall be only what Philippians 4:8 allows.
    1. "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."     2. "We are called to be a godly people who think, feel, and act in harmony with the principles of heaven. For the Spirit to recreate in us the character of our Lord we involve ourselves only in those things which will produce Christlike purity, health, and joy in our lives. This means that our amusement and entertainment should meet the highest standards of Christian taste and beauty." 28 Fundamental Beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
  6. Forms / apps shall integrate the mission of the church by advertising Bible truths.
    1. And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. (Deuteronomy 6:9)
    2. Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons' sons (Deuteronomy 4:9)
    3. And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. (Deu 11:19)
    4. And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates, 21that your days and the days of your children may be multiplied in the land of which the Lord swore to your fathers to give them, like the days of the heavens above the earth. (Deu 11:20)
    5. We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done. (Psalm 78:4)
    6. Gather me the people together, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children. (Deu 4:10)
    7. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. (Deu 6:8)

    9. Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. (2 Timothy 4:2)

  7. Privacy. To reduce hacking, phishing, scams, identity theft and other crimes or unethical behavior, users should weigh the risks vs opportunities when putting important / critical information on computers / online.

  8. All resources (equipment, bandwidth, people) shall be available for gospel work with appropriate permission and care
    1. "Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me. 3And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them." Matthew 21:2-3
