Who are the Pharisees?

Pharisee [ far-uh-see ]

1. more interested in most recent human policies/ideas than (inspired) present truth.
- "He answered and said to them, “Why do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition?" (Matt 15:3)

2. can be converted to do great things for God
- "If anyone else thinks he may have confidence in the flesh, I more so: 5circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of the Hebrews; concerning the law, a Pharisee; 6concerning zeal, persecuting the church; concerning the righteousness which is in the law, blameless. 7But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ." (Phil 3:4-7)

3. when converter
- will finish their resources/money supporting missionaries (Nicodemus)
- will themselves be persecuted (Paul)

How to differentiate w/c idea is from Pharisee and w/c is from God?
- "Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God." (Matthew 22:29)
