Why only pastors usually baptize?

Why only pastors usually baptize? This question might be answered by asking some questions to open the mind: 1. Did every Christian in the New Testament baptize? 2. Did Jesus do all the baptisms? 3. Why were the baptisms in the NT usually done by apostles or disciples who had some authority? In the Seventh-day Adventist Church, are baptisms restricted for ordained pastors only? Answer: No, the church manual allows the conference to authorize elders and other non-ordained individual on a case-to-case basis.  But normally it is the ordained pastor who does it, like in the New Testament. This question has been in my mind for years and I only knew of organizational explanations, but as we prayed in family worship, this idea came to mind.  It seems biblical so far...

HEADSHIP VS ORDINATION

in my observation, "headship" has more holes than just plain "ordination". because: 1) when the husband has died, the "head" of the family is the widow. 2) when the husband is drunk, the "head" of negotiation with david and his men is the wife. 3) and also a woman pastor of literal sheep is possible, but she cannot remove the cover of the well herself however, if one uses "headship" argument, then the context actually comes since the garden of eden because 1 tim 2:9-15 says because "the woman was deceived in transgression". "ordination" case is simpler. just make sure it is not mixed or equivalented to "headship", "teachership", prophesying, authority and other overlapping terms. if we can isolate ordination from those terms, and focus on finding ordained women in the bible, then it seems to be clear square reasoning to do so ACCORDING to biblical ordination. doug batchelor and ot

Must The Whole World Hear?

Abstract: Yes. But we don't know the resolution / density / concentration. Fulltext: The great commission in Matthew 28 says "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations , baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost", also in Mark 16:15 it says "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature ." The scaling question would be: all the continents? all the countries? all the timezones? all the provinces? all the cities / towns? all the barangays? all the streets? all the homes? all the rooms? all the individuals? all the square feet of in the rooms? all the square inches of the world? all the molecules of the earth? all the atoms of the earth? Note that all of these are part of "nations" and all are part of "every creature".  Yes God saves individuals but remember "all nations" is lower resolution and "every creature" is higher resolution. So if we don'

Is Jesus coming on 2031?

Abstract:   As Adventists, we cannot say that Jesus is coming on 2031 because Ellen G. White says: 1) " there would be no  definite time in the message given of God since 1844" { 2SM 73.1 }; 2) " God gives no man a message that it will be five years or ten years or twenty years before this earth’s history shall close" { RH-11-27-1900 }. The main reference is Last Day Events chapter 3 "When shall these things be?" .  Regarding the idea that "definite time" in  {LDE 36.2} constrasted to the "year", EGW refers to 1844 also as a "time" in the same paragraph, therefore time and year are same to her.  Furthermore, while it is safe to say that " six thousand years " is Satan's time to prove his point, and that the next  millennium  will be in heaven, and that there are four thousand years between sin and the cross , and that the cross was at 31 A.D , we can only say things that she wrote, and we cannot say things tha

ezcap286 SDI / HDMI mp4 recorder (easycap 286 ez cap) review

Update 2016 Feb 15: it only captures at 15fps. sometimes it confuses the filenames or stores the same video on different files. Update 2015 Sept 22 : they asked me to remove some components, sent me new firmware different md5 from the last one. it seems to work now at least for the 4 times i tried. i also reported the ticks in the hdmi out. they told me to check for shorts or bad on the pins from the chip to the hdmi connector! (i'm not confident enough to do that, these are very small SMDs) recorded 4 hours continuously OK. the recorder split the file into 2.1gb each. Original article below: Caution: this device currently DOES NOT RECORD AUDIO as promised. we are still waiting for easycap to update the firmware to something that works as advertised. i bought mine for less than $200. very cheap. connected it to ATEM TVS SDI program out, also tried HDMI input. it can record VIDEO ONLY on sdcard, harddisk, and usb. during recording, the audio from the HDMI out will have

Tithes and Offerings on the Sabbath?

some offshoot groups say that tithes and offerings should not be on Sabbath. but the data says otherwise: 1. SOP says sabbath is best time to give tithes and offerings {CS 80.2} . 2. Bible exemplifies sabbath offerings {Number 28:9-10} 3. the question of 1 Cor 16:2 does not even give a clue that Paul was coming (and avoiding collecting) on the Sabbath.

The Algorithm of Salvation

Many misunderstood the logic and algorithm of salvation because they do not have a good understanding of the problem. To appreciate the algorithm of salvation, one has to understand the following: original state of creatures in heaven and in earth origin of sin anatomy and effects of sin death God's solution to restore humanity to the original state state and evidences of salvation relation of love, grace, and justice God's character and law References: Bible Nature of Man (Gen. 1:26-28; 2:7; Ps. 8:4-8; Acts 17:24-28; Gen. 3; Ps. 51:5; Rom. 5:12-17; 2 Cor. 5:19, 20; Ps. 51:10; 1 John 4:7, 8, 11, 20; Gen. 2:15) Great Controversy ( Rev. 12:4-9; Isa. 14:12-14; Eze. 28:12-18; Gen. 3; Rom. 1:19-32; 5:12-21; 8:19-22; Gen. 6-8; 2 Peter 3:6; 1 Cor. 4:9; Heb. 1:14)   Life, Death, & Resurrection of Christ (John 3:16; Isa. 53; 1 Peter 2:21, 22; 1 Cor. 15:3, 4, 20-22; 2 Cor. 5:14, 15, 19-21; Rom. 1:4; 3:25; 4:25; 8:3, 4; 1 John 2:2; 4:10; Col. 2:15; Phil. 2:6-

Youth Elders?

Negative should not be "novice" (1 Tim 3:6) "Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil." Timothy was not an elder but a "preacher and apostle"  (1 Tim 2:7) "Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ,  and  lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity." although terms elders, bishops, pastor, and overseer are used interchangeably ( Acts 20:17, 28; Titus 1:5, 7 ) i have yet to find a passage where timothy referred to as an elder. most apostles are also elders  (1 Peter 5:1; 2 John 1; 3 John 1)  but there seems to be some distinction in Acts 15:22 " Then pleased it the apostles and elders, with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas;  namely , Judas surnamed Barsabas, and Silas, chief men among the brethren:" it is an oxymoron Jesus was 30 or more years old when he started ministry.
