The picture inside the "Camera" app is from the capture. 
plugged the HDMI output of the laptop to the input of the capture. plugged in the capture to USB. opened windows10 camera app and switched to the usb capture. set extended desktop. dragged vlc player to the extended desktop. maximised camera app. and pressed WindowKey-PrtScreen.
